Everyone should learn the 5 heart attack warning signs. These are:

  • Pain or discomfort in the chest
  • Discomfort in the jaw, neck, back or stomach
  • Discomfort in the arms or shoulders
  • Shortness of breath
  • A feeling of weakness, lightheadedness or nausea

The most common heart attack symptom is chest pain or discomfort. But women are somewhat more likely than men to experience some of the other common symptoms, particularly shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, and back or jaw pain.

If you feel heart attack symptoms, do not delay. The Indiana Heart Hospital is the state’s only 24-hour cardiac emergency room with cardiologists on-site 24 hours each day. Remember, minutes matter! Find a location >>
